OWO Raffles Hotel, London

London’s new ‘Raffles’ Hotel – The OWO - Greg Funnell Photographer

I was recently asked by the Financial Times to visit the new Raffles hotel in London’s Old War Office (Giving it its catchy name, The OWO) which sits on Whitehall, the very seat of Britain’s political power. As you can imagine it’s a very grand building with a lot of history, and it has to be said that they have done a fantastic job with the refurbishment in capturing and elevating some of that prestigious past.

I am a big fan of hotel bars, their transient clientele and anonymity are something to be cherished in a big bustling city – they are also normally a lot quieter than most other establishments, plus the service is normally exemplary. The one at the OWO is no exception, although a little smaller than I expected, but it can boast to overlooking the comings and goings of Whitehall, which in itself would make a worthwhile venue to while away an afternoon should you have the time and the inclination.
