Malle Mile – Margate

The Malle Mile is something I have been meaning to check out for a while and recently the opportunity came up to ride shotgun with one of my fellow studio dwellers, Paddy, and see what’s what. I am always drawn to events where there’s an element of competition, an eclectic and passionate crowd and some kind of machine, equipment or animal! I’ve covered horse races, bike races, car races… the lot. Whenever there is something with stakes involved it creates an energy and electricity that I am drawn too. The ‘spectacle’. The spectacle keeps the crowd occupied and gives the photographer two great subjects; the spectacle itself and the people watching/taking part in the spectacle.

I would like to have been there in nicer light – but the event is dictated by the tides and so they race when they can race, not when they want to. But I will be back I’m sure.
