I was recently commissioned by the Sunday Times Magazine to go and photograph Lord Craig Mackinlay. Lord Mackinlay is a former Conservative MP (formerly UKIP) who in 2023 contracted sepsis and with 24 hours was in a critical condition. He was given a 5% chance of survival. He proceeded to have all 4 limbs amputated making him a quadruple amputee. Within 18 months he was able to return, walking, into the commons chamber to a standing ovation. His recovery and mindset were remarkable. We were tasked with photographing him in his tiny office within the Houses of Parliament. To set up our background we had to get quite creative re-arranging the office, ultimately we myself basically hard up against the office printer. We then got the chance to photograph him in Westminster Hall which was a real privilege and I think led to a more dramatic photograph.
