This is a story I shot for Bloomberg on Andrew Pearse, an ex-Credit Suisse banker who played a role in the infamous Tuna Bond scandal, a $2 billion dollar fraud in Mozambique. Andrew was extradited and eventually became a principal witness to the prosecution in two trials in the US. Now back in the UK he is trying to rebuild his life and has set up his own waste disposal company. It was an interesting and complicated story about someone who has had a massive fall from grace, lost everything and seemingly humbled has started to rebuild from the bottom up. Spending time talking to him and photographing him we had some very deep conversations about loss, family, morality and penance – it’s interactions like this that feel like such a privilege of my job; getting to witness others on their own journeys of self discovery.
